Roger Rose FCA Qualified 1970
After training and qualifying with a 10 partner practice, Roger was promoted to audit manager. He was then invited to join an audit client in a manufacturing company, a small Plc. He spent a total of 10 years in industry before deciding that there was a gap in the market for accountants to become virtual financial directors for small companies. Working on a self employed basis, the companies had the expertise of a qualified accountant without the need to employ one on a full time basis. Hence, R Rose & Co was born. Roger therefore has a wealth of experience not only drawn from working in practice but also in industry, helping businesses to grow and retain as much of that wealth as possible. Many businesses have been helped from start up to eventual retirement or sale.

Bret Duncan ACA CTA Qualified 1991

Bret has over 20 years of experience dealing with clients ranging from sole traders to public companies. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant with a three partner firm in Sheffield. After spending 8 years working in general practice, he joined the tax department of one of the “Big 4” accountancy practices, where he worked for seven years as a tax manager and qualified as a Chartered Tax Adviser. This was followed by 4 years in the tax department of a large law firm dealing with all aspects of the partnership’s tax affairs. Bret started his own practice, BSD Chartered Accountants, in 2005, which he merged with R Rose & Co Ltd in June 2008.

Heather Craggs ACCA Qualified 2002

Kay , who did an open university degree in Psychology which she completed in 1996, finds this very useful in helping Roger run the practice. She ensures that insurances and all other compliance matters regarding the property are kept up to date, as well as dealing with all the confidential matters relating to the practice.

Heather has undertaken her training with the practice and has seen it grow from 2 employees to 9 today. She has particular skills in ensuring that companies are compliant with the accounting and other regulations relevant to them. She works closely with a small group of clients providing management accounts as well as dealing with corporate and personal tax support.

Philip Fox
Joined February 2001

Started working for a bank before taking on the role of credit control and debt collection. He spent 15 years running his own business as a sub-postmaster. Martin is now in charge of our bureau services of book-keeping and payroll, ensuring that VAT and all other returns are submitted on time and clients get regular management accounts. Phil started working life in a chartered accountants office before spending 10 years in industry as an office manager. He later spent 10 years in his own business in the licensed trade. Very experienced in payroll and accounting services. The practice now uses his specialist skills working on our I.T. systems and programmes, including our On-Line 50 services.

Lorraine Hatfield AAT Qualified 2003

Linda Bingham
Joined March 2005

Lorraine has extensive book-keeping and accounts experience both in industry and in practice. She spent 2 years in partnership in a catering business. Deals with accounts and taxation affairs of small businesses particularly sole traders and partnerships. Linda has extensive experience of book-keeping and payroll having worked in industry and practice. She assists Martin in the operation of the bureau services to an increasing number of clients.
